Fresh Workout Clothes for 2016

New year, new workout clothes!

#1  #2  #3  #4  #5  #6

Who has a New Year's fitness resolutions? I do!  Cort and I joined a new gym a month ago, and it has made such a difference in my desire to workout! Our old gym was so small and had terrible hours, so I honestly never wanted to go even though it was literally a 2 second walk. When this new gym opened, it was like I completely had my motivation back! Also, this past month I've been taking some new classes, Barre, Pilates, and cycling. It feels so good to get back into shape and have more energy. Well naturally with working out more, I wanted to spruce up my workout wardrobe and there were SO many sales in the new year. Here are some of my favorite new workout leggings which I linked! #2 (from Target) and #5 (from Fabletics the color is "black ice") kind of have a reflective/ foil design (I don't know what to call it) but they pick up the light and look really cool. Those are probably my favorites.

What are your New Year's resolutions?

Happy Friday!

Zoe Fit

Took these leggings for a spin on Sunday and loved them! It was surprisingly warm and gorgeous for the first day of November. After I did this shoot, I went for a run with my husband and we did an outdoor workout at a beautiful park on the river near where we live. It felt so good to workout outside.  These leggings are soo comfy.  They have a really slick feeling that make you feel aerodynamic haha.  I love the cool pattern and tight fit.  Zoe Fitwear creates leggings and sports bras in cool patterns and colors that are perfect for the gym, running, yoga, Pilates or whatever workout your heart desires. Hope yall are enjoying this warm November weather!

After my wedding and since I started working full time, I have been SO bad about exercising! It’s been so hard to make time for it. I’m not trying to make excuses at all, because I know there are people far busier than me who make the time for it… but I’m just being honest!! Anyways, there is nothing that motivates me to get my butt to the gym more than new workout clothes! Does anyone else agree? I’m sorry, but I love fresh, new workout gear.  It gives me an extra boost of confidence at the gym or out running on the streets. Look good, feel good, exercise good, right?  Literally, the second I got these pants in the mail, I put them on and went for an invigorating, fall run outside.  They are soo comfortable, and I love the pink stripes on the back of my calves. They make me feel so speedy haha..

I've teamed up with Holabird Sports to show you my favorite athletic looks right now.  They offer a great selection of top brands at amazing prices.

If you’re anything like me and get extra motivated to workout with new active wear, then here are you exercise essentials! And let’s be real, we all love wearing active wear even on days we don’t make it to the gym… C’mon we all know the look.. yoga pants, dry fit shirt, and Nike Frees for grocery shopping! :)

1. Lighweight quarterzip pullover: This is a perfect transitional piece for running outside on those cooler days when it’s too cold to wear a tank. It’s also great for wearing to the gym when it’s cold out. I always like to wear something over my tank when I'm warming up that I can take off later in my workout.

2. Bright running shoes: These Under Armour shoes are so fun.  They are a neutral shoe-which is what I wear- and they’re super comfy.  I love love love bright running shoes because I think they look so cool contrasted with black tights.

3. Leggings: Quality leggings or running tights are so important! Don’t be that girl at the gym in see through, or ripped poor quality leggings.  I definitely think a good pair is worth the money.  Quick tip: when you’re shopping, try yours on and do some imaginary squats in the dressing room to make sure they actually aren’t see through ;) I love this pair because they are black, but they have a contrasting pop of color on the calves! So cool.

4. Water bottle: Can you tell I love pink?! This CamelBak is from an Etsy shop that personalizes water bottles. Mine says, “Drink Up!” I mean how cute is that?

Seven Benefits of Yoga

I have dabbled in yoga for a few years but this past winter/spring I took a yoga class with my good friend, Sam, and absolutely got hooked.  The class was twice a week for an hour and it literally forced me to slow down, rid myself of all distractions, and just breathe.  I was also planning my wedding at the time so it was kinda perfect and prevented emotional breakdowns which is always a good thing.   There are so many benefits of yoga for your body and while taking these classes, I totally experienced them and can attest that it actually works.  In our busy lives, it is so hard to carve out time where we have no cell phone, no to-do list, no errands, and no distractions.  Putting this craziness on hold for an hour or even thirty minutes is soooo good for your body, mind, and soul.  Here are seven benefits of yoga (just to name a few) that I love.

1. Relaxation: yoga encourages you to slow your breath, focus on what you're doing, and relax.  Focusing on your breathing is calming, restorative, and lowers your heart rate.

2.  Balance: when you practice yoga on a regular basis, you become very in tune with your body.  Your body awareness and control increases which allows you to do things that you wouldn't normally be able to do- like balance on one leg, or your head.  It's fun!

3. Posture: I have terrible posture! I always slouch, especially at work. It's bad.  Yoga increases back flexibility and strength, allowing you to stand up straight and balance your head directly over your spine.  This takes the pressure off of your neck and allows your back muscles to help support.

4.  Stress Reduction: many yoga styles use meditation techniques to help you quiet the mind.  It slows down the mental loops of anger, anxiety, fear, etc.

5.  Focus: a big component of yoga is focusing on the present.  As an expert multi-tasker, it's very difficult to only think about one thing without your mind drifting to the next idea.  When you train your mind to stay fixed on the present, your ability to focus increases over the long run.

6. Flexibility: who doesn't want to be able to twist up like a pretzel?! Yoga is amazing for flexibility which helps prevent injury and soreness.

7. New Clothes: practicing yoga gives you a great excuse to buy new clothes!!!! Gotta do it in style :)
