Chicago, Illinois

Ever since Cort and I have been married (3 months as of last Monday!!!), we have been trying to do more spontaneous weekend trips! We both work full time and stay very busy with our jobs, so we really try to make the most of our weekends and pack a lot of fun in.  This weekend we decided to take a trip to Chicago.  We have both been so many times, and have gone together multiple times, but it never gets old!  We had such a fun time and did not want to leave!   It was the MOST BEAUTIFUL day ever.  Cool, breezy, sunny.  It couldn't be any better.  When we arrived, we grabbed a quick breakfast and walked to Navy Pier. We met lots of cute pups along the way (we want a dog so bad!!). At Navy Pier, we took a beautiful Ferris wheel ride overlooking the water and the city.  It was so fun! I felt like a little kid again.

The rest of the afternoon we spent walking around the Magnificent Mile and being touristy at Millennium Park (we had to see The Chicago Bean, of course).  We grabbed lunch at one of my favorite Chicago cafes, Pret A Manger. It’s super healthy and fresh which is perfect for when you’re walking around all day and don’t want to feel too full.  After lunch we headed to an event at Neiman Marcus and I was able to meet one of my favorite bloggers, Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior.  She was super sweet and it was so great to talk to her! I also met another sweet girl, Caitlin. She's the creator of Public Lives, Secret Recipes.  She makes these amazing KrisPops! Cort and I loved them.

After the Neiman Marcus event, we headed to the Chicago river walk and got some nommy frozen yogurt before our boat tour.  It was great to finally sit down and relax.  The time came to board our boat for the tour.  We went all along the Chicago river and learned so much about the buildings and the history of the city.  After the tour, we walked around a little more while we decided where to eat for dinner. We landed a cute Italian restaurant for dinner and both got pizza :) We ended our evening at one of my favorite places in Chicago, the DrumBar.  It’s a rooftop bar on the top of a hotel next to the Hancock Tower.  It has amazing drinks and a beautiful view of the city. I got a Mojito, which had super yummy fresh mint. It was the most perfect day and we had so much fun. We definitely want to go back soon when we have the whole weekend to spend there.

About the outfit:

Okay, I absolutely love this dress. I picked it up a few weeks ago because I needed something casual and comfortable to wear to a work event, but since then, I have already worn it like a million times.  It is so comfortable and it's great for so many occasions. I love how simple it is. It was perfect for walking around Chicago all day.  If you don't have a trapeze dress, go buy one now! I promise you will wear it so much. I have linked some similar styles below.

Sandals: Sam Edelman

ps. These sandals are very comfortable and have great support. But after walking around all day, my feet started to hurt a little bit. Does anyone know of any comfortable (and cute!) sandals? I need some good ones! Comment below if you have any suggestions please!!!

Happy sunday!
