How To Get Ready Fast!

Happy first day of September!!! I can't believe it's September already....! This is by far my favorite month of the year (every year) but this year I have a lot to look forward to in the month of September. I have 2 weddings, 2 trips, and my birthday (well my birthday happens every year)! woo! In lieu of kicking off the fall season (even though we still have 22 days left of summer), I'm sharing an outfit that incorporates a few of my favorite fall trends.

I'm loving the corduroy a-line skirt trend and I'm totally hopping on board. I've already bought two.. oops. I paired this skirt with a simple heathered grey top, white sneakers, and glasses from Side note- the other night I was watching Stranger Things (have you seen it? it's so good!) and my contacts were bothering me. I quickly got up and ran to the bathroom to throw out the pair I was wearing and put on my glasses. I didn't realize until the next morning that those were the last contacts I had. UGH. So it was glasses for me for the next few days until I could order new contacts. At least I love my frames :) Anyways,  I think this is going to be one of my favorite looks for fall.

On another note, one question I get asked a lot is how I have time to get ready in the mornings. Today, I'm going to share a few tips on how I get ready FAST.

How to get ready FAST and still manage to look put together:

Know what works for you- we all have our key staples that we feel great in. If you don't, you need to get on that! I have a few dresses, jeans, and tops that I know I can throw on and not question myself.  Know what works for you and your body. Know what makes you feel confident. When you're in a hurry and you know what works for you, you won't need to stand in the mirror and examine yourself from every angle asking if this is the right look. Having a few pieces that work every time can help you shave valuable time off your morning routine.

Prioritize your makeup- when you're running late, sometimes a full face of makeup just isn't an option. Know your makeup essentials and stick to those when you're in a hurry. For me, it's a powder foundation, bronzer, mascara, and chapstick or lipgloss (which is applied in the car to save time). When I'm in a hurry I nix the liquid foundation, blush, setting powder, brow pencil, eyelash curler, eye shadow, eyeliner, concealer.. etc. For you, this might look different. Maybe it's concealer under the eyes, some foundation, mascara, and a bold lip. Whatever your combo is, know it and master it.

Curl your hair the night before- if you think your morning will be hectic, curl your hair the night before and then sleep on it. Touch up a few curls in the morning and you're good to go!

Plan ahead- Planning your outfits ahead of time is a lifesaver when you're in a time crunch.  You don't always know you're going to oversleep, so sometimes planning ahead just isn't an option. But when you can, planning ahead is a great habit to practice.  Sometimes I'll plan my outfit the night before and it saves me so much time in the morning.  I'll just pull out what I think i'm going to wear and make sure I have whatever I need for that outfit. This prevents scrambling in the morning for that perfect pair of socks that won't peep out of your booties or the slip you need to wear under your dress. Maybe you want to wear a shirt but it has some wrinkles in in. Iron/steam it the night before (or hang it in the bathroom while you're showering) so you don't have to mess with it in the morning. My point is, take care of all the little details the night before so you're not rushing the next day.

Keep it simple- when you're running late, it's not necessarily the best time to try some new trend you've been dying to rock. Keep it simple. Don't do anything extravagant or funky unless you feel totally confident doing that.  Sometimes a simple white tee and distressed denim or a black t-shirt dress with booties is all you need.  Keep it simple.

DRY SHAMPOO- lifesaver. Need I say more? hair always looks better on the second day anyways :)

Stop making excuses- it takes less time to throw on a dress than leggings and a tshirt- one of my BIGGEST pet peeves in college (okay that's kind of dramatic, but still..) was when I would show up for class in a simple dress and booties and a girl in yoga pants and a tshirt would look at me and say, "omg how do you have time to get ready in the morning?!".  It literally takes the same amount of time if not LESS time to put on a dress than it does to put on sweats and a sloppy shirt.  Ps- I totally love leggings and a t-shirt or baggy sweater, but my point is that it takes the same amount of time to throw on something cute as it does something sloppy.  So if the excuse is time, that's no excuse as long as you have mastered my first tip of knowing what works for you.

Master a few hair styles- Master hair styles that you can do fast. A braid, messy bun/topknot, beachy waves, or au natural are all great options.  Thanks to me running late all the time, I've mastered curling my hair in 5 minutes. It just takes practice but find a few hairstyles that you can turn to when you're in a pinch.

Cute handbags/shoes- accessories can transform an outfit. If you have a cute purse and shoes then pairing that with your simple jeans and a t-shirt can totally transform your look.

Shower at night- there is nothing I hate more than being in a hurry and needing to wash my hair, blow it dry, and  styling it in the morning. I try to shower at night as much as possible so my hair will be dry in the morning and ready to style.. I know everyone is different so this may not work for you. But if it does, it can be a great time saver.

Tint your eyebrows every few months- penciling your eyebrows can add a lot of time to your daily routine.  I tint my eyebrows every few months with a kit I got from Amazon. I still like to pencil my eyebrows in the morning, but when I don't have time I know that I will have some color there from tinting them.

Hats hats hats- thank goodnessss fedora's are in style. Especially with fall. Bad hair day? Throw on a hat. Ironically, you'll get a lot of compliments and it took no effort.

Okay guys I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks so much for stopping by!
