Workout Sneaker Review

Since I work out most days during the week, I get asked all the time what my favorite workout shoes are. You guys know I love my APL’s, but I know they’re a bit of a splurge. They’re totally worth it (imo) especially if you’re into fitness like I am, but I have a very similar pair that are much more affordable and almost just as good! I also wear different shoes for running (this lady needs lots of knee support) so I’m breaking down my must-have workout sneakers, what I like about them, and what I use them for.

APL Techloom Pro

True to size - These are by far my most worn workout shoe for the past couple of years. I love them for any type of cross training/weight lifting/hiit classes/etc. A lot of you ask if I run in these and they are technically running shoes, so you definitely can run in them, but I usually wear something with a little more cushion if I'm choosing to go on a run (more details on that below). I do, however, wear these during workout classes and training sessions where I will do some running on the treadmill or sprints outside. So, think shorter bursts of running but not necessarily longer runs. Another reason I love these for everyday workouts is because they're lightweight and don’t have a super chunky heel which makes them great for getting my feet in and out of a rowing machine, bike pedals, trx loops, etc. You never know what an instructor or trainer will throw at you during a class or training session, so I don't want a chunky shoe getting in the way.

Adidas Energyfalcon

Size down 1/2 size - I would say these are a runner up to the APL's for literally all of the same reasons I love those. They're not too chunky, and they're great for cross training/weight lifting/hiit classes/etc. They have a very similar shape as the APL's which makes them not too clunky for classes and training. Also, the price point on these is AMAZING!! The tricky thing about this shoe is that they're really hard to find in stock, maybe adidas discontinued them but I was able to find them on Amazon here.

Hoka Running Shoe

True to size- Okay, let's chat running shoes now. I have the knees of a 90-year-old which is why I need a TON of support when it comes to running shoes. This is why I don't wear the APL or Adidas shoes (above) when it comes to running. If you don't have the same problem as me and you're looking for a shoe that you can go on a run in and also train in, then you'd probably be fine with either of those. But for anyone who feels my pain (literally), these shoes are great for running because the cushion is BOMB! Although, I do feel like a granny in them, they're so comfy so I don't really care. This is the particular style I have from them, but they have so many great options that are really similar like the Clifton and Mach.

Nike Infinity Flyknit

True to size- These shoes have a ton of cushion and they're great running shoes for all of the same reasons I love the Hokas. Occasionally, I will wear them for cross training if I'm having a day where my knee hurts and I feel like I just want some more cushion during the workout, but I typically prefer them for running because the heel is chunkier. They’re super comfortable and lightweight!

I hope this helps the next time you’re shopping for a new pair of workout sneakers! Like I mentioned before, I work out A LOT so I wanted to give you my honest review since I know a lot of you are into fitness (and need support) like I do!
